About Us

The following is a brief note of the solicitors in the Company with detail of the principal areas of work covered.

JOHN ARMIT

Graduated LL B from Glasgow University in 1967. Served his apprenticeship with Professor John M Halliday’s firm, from where he joined Hunter & Robertson in 1969, and so has now been with this firm for over 40 years. Formerly dealt with property transactions* but has now decided to leave it to his partners to deal with these matters. Now acknowledged to be more experienced in Liquor Licensing law than any other local solicitor. Also happy to take instructions for preparation of wills and powers of attorney and the winding up of estates. And helps out his Criminal Court partner from time to time. Interests: golf, rugby, poetry and music.

WILLIAM HILL

Graduated LL B from Glasgow University in 1971. Admitted as a solicitor in 1973 and after a short spell with firm in Glasgow joined Hunter & Robertson in 1974. Appointed as Notary Public. Grandson of one of the founder partners of the firm. Principal areas of work include residential and commercial conveyancing including acting for landlords and tenants in commercial and domestic leases and all areas of Private Client work including Wills and Trusts, winding up estates, Inheritance Tax planning and Powers of Attorney.

ROBERT DUNN

Graduated from Edinburgh University in 1978, qualified as a solicitor in 1980 and joined Hunter & Robertson in 1983. Specialises in civil litigation with particular expertise in high financial value divorce cases, child law and reparation claims. Regularly appointed as Curator ad Litem in family cases and is highly regarded by his peers. He has extensive court experience in the conduct of a large variety of civil cases, frequently conducting proofs, trials and debates.

STEVEN MILLAR

Graduated from Dundee University with LLB in 1981 and Diploma in Legal Practice 1982. Appointed Notary Public. Served his traineeship in Dumbarton and worked in commercial sector in Glasgow and in general practice in Hamilton. He joined Hunter & Robertson in 1986 and was assumed as a partner in 1990. Principal areas of work include residential and commercial conveyancing, leases, and all areas of Private Client work including Wills and Estates, Powers of Attorney and Guardianship.

JONATHAN MANSON

Educated at Hutchesons Grammar School and Graduated LL.B (Hons) from Glasgow University in 1977. Admitted as a solicitor in 1979. Since joining Hunter & Robertson Jonathan has specialised in Criminal Defence work and now concentrates exclusively on this area of practice.
